anyways, i ate it is an original mixed-media artwork and a study of Love’s Shadow by Frederick Sandys, reinterpreted through thousands of hand-cut paint-chip pixels.
This piece is a tribute to a brief and aspirational period in my life when I was vegan between meals. A portrait of beauty, temptation, and personal inconsistency, it reflects that familiar moment in which one holds a principle very sincerely, right up until it becomes inconvenient.
Created using 381 individual colors and approximately 4,500 hand-cut paint-chip squares, the work transforms a historic painting into a contemporary meditation on self-discipline, selective morality, and the quiet collapse of good intentions.
Each paint-chip pixel is individually cut and mounted by hand on 3 mm aluminium Dibond using museum-grade archival adhesive, creating a detailed surface that sits somewhere between painting, mosaic, and digital image.
Measuring 61.46 × 76.57 cm, the artwork includes an approx. 5 mm border around the composition, designed to be hidden by framing.
