but i already did something today… is an original mixed-media artwork and a study of The Lady of Shalott by John William Waterhouse, reinterpreted through thousands of hand-cut paint-chip pixels.
This piece is inspired by the very real and ongoing tragedy of my job expecting me to do literally anything after I have already done one thing. It is my sincere belief that one productive act per day is enough for any person.
Created using 206 individual colors and approximately 2,000 hand-cut paint-chip squares, the work transforms a well-known painting into a contemporary meditation on exhaustion, resistance, and the unreasonable expectation of continued usefulness after a single completed task.
Each paint-chip pixel is individually cut and mounted by hand on 3 mm aluminium Dibond using museum-grade archival adhesive, creating a detailed surface that sits somewhere between painting, mosaic, and digital image.
Measuring 41.25 × 51.3 cm, the artwork includes an approx. 5 mm border around the composition, designed to be hidden by framing.
It is also my sincere belief that if you buy this piece, I can quit my job.
