we shouldn’t. is an original mixed-media artwork and a study of The Awakening of Adonis by John William Waterhouse, reinterpreted through thousands of hand-cut paint-chip pixels.
A tribute to all the sensible reasons that never stood a chance, this piece reflects the quiet inevitability of wanting something you already know is probably a bad idea. It is a study in temptation, inevitability, emotional amnesia, and the deeply human tendency to proceed anyway.
Created using 141 individual colors and approximately 2,000 hand-cut paint-chip squares, the work transforms a historic painting into a contemporary meditation on desire, surrender, and the kind of decision-making that is clearly not guided by logic.
Each paint-chip pixel is individually cut and mounted by hand on 3 mm aluminium Dibond using museum-grade archival adhesive, creating a detailed surface that sits somewhere between painting, mosaic, and digital image.
Measuring 41.25 × 51.3 cm, the artwork includes an approx. 5 mm border around the composition, designed to be hidden by framing.
