and it’s barely even march… is an original mixed-media artwork inspired by Ophelia by Sir John Everett Millais, reinterpreted through thousands of hand-cut paint-chip pixels.
The piece was created using 728 individual colors and approximately 12,500 hand-cut paint-chip squares, carefully arranged to form a cropped, emotionally charged study of the figure. Measuring 101.85 × 126.97 cm , it is mounted on 3 mm aluminium Dibond using museum-grade archival adhesive, giving the work a clean, stable, and durable structure while preserving the delicate paper surface of the paint chips.
This was the first piece conceived for the collection and went on to become the largest work in the series. Its title, and it’s barely even march…, reflects the dramatic, slightly absurd emotional state behind the work: a contemporary spiral filtered through the visual language of Pre-Raphaelite beauty, theatrical suffering, and art-historical melodrama.
The artwork includes an approx. 5 mm border around the composition, designed to be hidden by framing.
