i can’t… i already have plans is an original mixed-media artwork and a study of Flaming June by Frederic Leighton, reinterpreted through thousands of hand-cut paint-chip pixels.
The piece transforms Leighton’s iconic sleeping figure into a contemporary portrait of avoidance, exhaustion, and the sacred emotional architecture of staying in. Wrapped in orange fabric and suspended somewhere between beauty, sleep, and refusal, the figure becomes an image of that very specific kind of plan that cannot be cancelled, because the plan is doing absolutely nothing.
Created using 99 individual colors and 8,000 hand-cut paint-chip squares, the work turns a historic painting into a meditation on rest, withdrawal, theatrical stillness, and the quiet luxury of not being available.
Each paint-chip pixel is individually cut and mounted by hand on 3 mm aluminium Dibond using museum-grade archival adhesive, creating a detailed surface that sits somewhere between painting, mosaic, and digital image.
Measuring 81.5 × 101.6 cm, the artwork includes an approx. 5 mm border around the composition, designed to be hidden by framing.
